We’re upgrading from Duo to Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication to give you a smoother, more secure sign-in experience.

To ensure successful registration:

Download the Microsoft Authenticator app to your mobile device from the App Store or Google Play.

Once installed, open the app but STOP when you see the following screen. DO NOT add an account.

During registration, watch for the link highlighted on the screen shown below. You will use this
link to pair your account. After pairing, you must return to your web browser to test your account.
Note: Student accounts will appear in the app as @boisestate.edu, not @u.boisestate.edu.

You’ll know registration is complete when you see the confirmation screen below. If you close or pause before then, the setup will fail.

Once installed, open the app, tap Add account, and select Work or school account.
STOP when you see the following screen. DO NOT sign in to the app. You will scan a QR code during registration.

Begin registration. Sign in with your Boise State account and follow the prompts.

For text message registration, locate the I want to set up a different method link on the following screen.
When prompted, select Phone from the menu.
(This option implies you can also set up a phone call, but only text messages are enabled for Boise State accounts.)
